Improvement of rainfall estimation for hydrological studies

A PhD student of the University of Bristol is currently working on the improvements of rainfall estimations by merging different source of rainfall measurements, such as weather radars and rain gauges. He is also studying the applications of these improved rainfall estimations in hydrological and flood management studies.

Hydro10 is currently collaborating to provide a technical support to build the hydrological HBV model in RS MINERVE, to create meteorological databases and to use them for hydrological simulations.

RS MINERVE provides an effective framework for these hydro-meteorological studies and allows the users to deeply analyze different hydrological models based on different sets of meteorological data.

 

Hydro-glaciological modeling of a tropical glacier in Peru

A professional technician of the Unit of Glaciology and Water Resources of the National Water Authority of Peru is currently preparing his PhD research thesis in the “Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM)” in Lima, Peru, on hydro-glaciological modeling in the tropical glacier of Yanamarey, in the Cordillera Blanca.

Hydro10 provides a technical support to build hydro-glaciological models using the RS MINERVE software and its hydrological models GSM (glacial watersheds) and SOCONT (non-glacial watersheds).

The objective of the thesis is to provide future hydrological scenarios based on climate change and to analyze the possible consequences.
